Delicate insect sculptures made from spare parts and nails

Ordinary junk can certainly pave the way for beautiful sculptures, such as this insect-inspired series by John Brown. The Wales-based sculptor uses spare parts and objects like nails and bicycle chains and assembles them into beautiful butterflies, insects, and birds. The separate pieces are then skillfully welded together. Afterward, the sculptures are finished with oil paint to mimic the colorful markings found on Holly Blue and Red Admiral butterflies.

Check out some of Brown’s sculptures below, and follow him on Facebook for regular updates. If you want one for yourself, check out his Etsy.
