Porcelain has cemented itself as one of the most commonly used materials in sculpture. These hybrid works by Juliette Clovis speak to its versatility as both a material and canvas.
The French artist is out with a series of sculptures that walk the fine line between nature and myth. Given female forms, the busts have been carefully sculpted out of porcelain and laden with abnormal features like spikes, flowers, and tiny bird ornaments. The works manage to provoke unnerving, anxious feelings out of its viewers but also achieve gentle tones in between.
