Li Ziqi is a popular Chinese vlogger known for her peaceful and calming videos shot in the open countryside of China. Her latest is a zen-filled “how it’s made” kind of video showing the meticulous process of creating paper from trees. The process, which can take days to complete, can be traced back to the Han Dynasty circa 2nd Century BC.
Ziqi’s video is just soothing to watch from start to finish. She takes you through all the steps from cutting down a few trees, mashing their trunks into pulp, to solidifying the mesh through hours of soaking and drying. All the while only using basic tools such as fire and a mortar. Watch the video below and hang around until the end for a surprising twist. Check out more of Li’s vlogs on her Youtube channel.
