Igor Siwanowicz captures the most unique (and freaky) caterpillars ever

It’s an amazing thought that after decades of technological and scientific advancements we have yet to chart every living species of insects. Back in 2016 we covered scientist and photographer Igor Siwanowicz (here) and now he’s back with more. This time around he’s captured some of the strangest and most unique looking caterpillars ever.

Some are just downright freaky while others are absolutely gorgeous with neon blue spikes and bright horns. Siwanowicz, who additionally works as a neurobiologist at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Farm Research Campus in Virginia, has been at it for more than ten years. Check out some of his latest caterpillar photos below and find more on photo.net. Oh and this one just cracks me up for some reason.
