So the 2017 Bird Photographer of the Year award is a thing and its winner was recently announced.
Celebrating the best in bird photography, the contest accumulated thousands of submissions from photographers all over the world. This year marked the third instalment of the awards and the winner was Alejandro Prieto Rojas. He took home the prize for his gorgeous shot of a group of flamingos feeding their offspring at Río Lagartos in Mexico. The contest came to fruition a few years ago as part of a collaboration between Nature Photographers Ltd and the British Trust for Ornithology.
