700-page book explores gorgeous renderings of flora discovered by Ernst Haeckel

Artist and biologist, Ernst Haeckel, created literally hundreds of gorgeous renderings of biological discoveries he made over the years.

The 19th-centruy German scientist studied all kinds of flora and fauna. And now, a book from Taschen has compiled the creative’s most visually-arresting works into a packed 704-page book. The work includes more than 450 drawings and loose sketches.

The book, titled The Art and Science of Ernst Haeckel, also contains a collection of 100 prints of organisms published between 1899 and 1904.

Check out some of the drawings below and learn more about Haeckel’s discoveries on Taschen’s website.
