Tree house adorned in glass and wood has unobstructed views of Constantia suburb in Cape Town

Treehouse concepts are not very unusual in the world of architecture. In fact, it is one of the most sought after ideas when it comes to design. But this tree house-inspired retreat house in Cape Town, South Africa is a far more elegant yet closer representation of anyone’s childhood memories of the iconic structure.

Design studio Malan Vorster created this contemporary house on stilts specifically for a client that wanted sweeping views of the Constantia suburb and at the same time give off the reminiscent feeling of being 5 again and playing in a tree house.

The house is composed of four wooden towers on stilts and furnished with contemporary furniture and fittings to create a nostalgic yet modern vibe. Glass and wood are the two main materials used for the structure. The architects at Malan Vorster also intentionally untreated all the materials used since according to them they will all weather naturally over time.
