Gorgeously-detailed dioramas depict post-apocalyptic environments

Small doesn’t always mean easy. For artists Lori Nix and Kathleen Gerber, it’s a lot of work and it pays off every time in the form of gorgeously-detailed dioramas.

The duo has been at it since 2005, hand-crafting post-apocalyptic scenes through dioramas that we all thought weren’t around anymore. The environments depict what it would be like if our familiar surroundings were taken over by vegetation, foliage, and rust. Nix, who works with her partner under the label, “Nix+Gerber”, describes her motivation for making such environments saying, “I’m not the type of photographer that is going to go out and find things to photograph. I am going to create things to photograph.”

Check out some of their amazing dioramas below, and be sure to watch the video featurette too! As always, find more on their Instagram and Facebook!
