The contents of our pockets can be revealing, and we have seen pocket content analysis in situations ranging from a suspected extramarital affair to the contents of Abraham Lincoln’s pockets on the evening of his assassination.
San Francisco photographer Melissa Kaseman took a playful approach to pocket contents by documenting her son’s pockets contents in the series she calls Preschool Pocket Treasures. The photographer says that she has a deep affinity for finding magic in the mundane, which we can see in the photos below of a rubber band, a few sticks, or a paperclip.
She said in an interview: “I like the idea of the photographs being a taxonomy report of a child’s imagination, specifically [my son] Calder’s. I hope he carries the wonderment of discovery throughout his life.”
