For the past 13 years, this artist sent daily letters to the Pacific Ocean

In 2003, Pittsburg-based artist John Peña sent a letter addressed to the Pacific Ocean. He has continued doing this daily act for the past 13 years, amassing over 3,000 letters that have been returned to him with the US Postal Service stamp saying “no such place exists.”

The artist posted on Instagram that he had forgotten to bring envelopes with him while he was traveling. He declined the offer from a friend for a few envelopes in assorted sizes, saying instead that he would purchase the envelopes that he typically uses. When his friend said, “Really? I thought the ocean would like variety,” the artist responded, “You’re right.”  Using the hastag #changetakestime, he says, “Now after 12 years of sending the same size letter, I’m finally mixing it up!”

What would you write in your own letter to the ocean?
