Street artist shows us the true cost of logging

As a political statement, Yeka Haski has taken to painting stumps of cut trees in her project ‘Tree Ossobuko.

The stumps are painted to look like slabs of meat, to compare the act of illegal tree cutting to murder.

She was inspired after a land developer illegally cut down a hundreds of trees in her home country, Russia.

“What if trees were made of flesh and blood as we are?

I started this project to show that a murder without blood and cries is still a murder,” she writes on her website.
