Public art installation uses 1,000 euro in coins for a powerful message

In June of 2015 on a street in Bilbao, Spain, urban artist SpY created a piece of art that was made from €1,000 in coins.

Spelling out the word “Crisis,” the artist used the shiny €2 bits to create copper-toned letters.

With the material and the arrangement both directly speaking to the message, the piece is both cohesive and powerful.

Perhaps as an indicator of the actual financial crisis, the artist states that all of the coins disappeared in less than a day.
