Enchanting posters of Studio Ghibli films as traditional Japanese prints

Texas-based illustrator Bill Mudron is the latest of artists to release a poster series inspired by the magical animated films of Studio Ghibli. Inspired by the works of Kawase Hasui, his poster tributes are beautifully designed in the traditional Japanese woodcut style. Films like My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, Spirited Away, and the lesser-known Castle of Cagliostro are the source for his gorgeous homage to the world of Hayao Miyazaki.

In the posters, the main characters become secondary in the mise-en-scène, in a Where’s Waldo way, instead the naturalistic theme of the films is centered through lush sceneries. Prints of the whole set are all sold out at his online store, but you can pay a visit just in case they become available again.
