Drops of paint captured in clear vertical rods become “staple paintings”, 3D sculptures of human figures created by Canadian artist Chris Dorosz. The collection is called ‘Stasis,’ and it is made up of a variety of sculptures created with acrylic paint on plastic rods, with plastic supports.
By their very nature, these sculptures are interactive: the viewer’s position relative to the sculptures aligns or de-aligns the pixel-like drops, causing the portraits to appear or vanish.
The artist has had work in a variety of museums across Canada and elsewhere, and has been featured in publications like Border Crossings Magazine, Nisha Magazine, and Canadian Art Magazine, among others.
