It’s hard to believe this life-size Iron Man suit is made entirely of cardboard

Xhongkai Xiang’s cardboard Iron Man suit is life-size, wearable and accurate. All Xiang needs now, is to figure out how to make it fly! Xiang humorously states, “Tony Stark’s suit cost almost one billion dollars [to make], my suit cost almost zero.” It took Xiang almost a year to create this work, and it shows! His cardboard Iron Man is executed with impressive craftsmanship.

Xiang is a 20-year-old Taiwanese artist who is clearly a master of cardboard. Some of his other creations have been a dragon, transformer, and dinosaur skeleton. Xiang prefers no paint or gloss, keeping the natural cardboard texture and color. His work recognizes its origins and at the same time attempts to transcend the boundaries of what cardboard can do.
