The way Jack Long has photographed these airborne liquid forms makes them appear like weird alien creatures emerging from the lake. I imagine them creepily floating across the pond sucking up fish, like a U.F.O. might lift a cow up into its beam of light. In reality, these ‘creatures’ are perfectly timed photographs of bursts of colored water.
The series titled ‘River Giants’ reveals the unexpected forms of liquid in motion. Long knows how to set up the perfect scenario to capture the unseen shapes that liquid takes on while it’s falling back into a huge body of water.
