Elegant industrial concept buildings imagined to withstand incessant natural disasters

In his first solo exhibition, titled ‘Architecture for Resistance,’ Spanish artist Dionisio González has focused on designing concept homes made specifically for locations in which beauty and chaos coexist. His detailed renderings of the imagined architecture are designed to withstand repeated natural disasters, while maintaining an urban industrial aesthetic. 

One of the most interesting locations that González has set his coastal structures is on Dauphin Island, located in the Gulf of Mexico. This island suffers from incessant devastating hurricanes so its inhabitants have to continuously rebuild and recover. His imagined structures are made from iron and concrete and often feature prominent curves and a low center of gravity.
