Planetary anatomy study turns to oozing lollipop art

German design studio FOREAL has created something they call a ‘planetary anatomy study.’ The project started out as illustrations for a book about planets for publisher Dorling Kindersley, but morphed into a surreal artistic assessment of the solar system created by virtual 3D modeling.

FOREAL’s imaginative model of the solar system is intensely colored. The planets pop and ooze like giant lollipops with syrup centers. Simon and Schuster don’t claim that their model is realistic, but then again, do we really know what the inside of Jupiter looks like? We do now.
