Guerilla art portrays hopeless people inside sliced trees

Jana and JS are a street art duo based in Germany.

The couple is best known for their public murals of people with cameras who are taking photos of the viewer.

In a new series of work Jana and JS paint realistic figures crouching inside of cut logs or on the ground on crumbling concrete walls.

The painted people are all in the fetal position staring blankly into space.

There is a sense of hopelessness projected onto the narrative scenario.

The atmosphere of the artwork implies a sadness for the surrounding environment.

What ideas do you think their work is intended to explore?
