These deceptive lamps first appear as stark grey geometric blobs that my not even allow light to permeate the surface. However, when the form is illuminated it is vibrantly bright with a rainbow of glowing color. The ‘Dazzle Lamps’ are made using a 3D printing additive manufacturing process that conceals one color over another.
Belgium-based designer Corneel Cannaerts has developed the 3D printing technique, as well as a special program that allows buyers to digitally customize the shape of their geometric lamp prior to printing.
Cannaerts explains, “The dazzle lamp prototypes look at the potential of 3D colour printing to embed different states within an object.”
