If you’re someone who is easily annoyed by the never-ending installation of light bulbs around the house, you’re going to appreciate Martin Azúa’s ‘Light Container.’ His design playfully portrays ‘light’ as an object with a texture and weight resting inside of a metal basket. The Light Container lamp is made from a painted iron frame and a blown glass lampshade.
Azúa, who graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, had this to say about his creation: “A mass of light inside a metallic basket that seems floating. Light is immaterial, but at the same time lamps are also objects. In this case we treat light as something with weight and volume. The glass diffuser generates a nice warm dim light with soft shadows, suitable for restaurant tables, counters, receptions, meeting and working tables. Its sculptural character allows the personalization of singular halls, stairwells…”
