For Korean artist Jee Young Lee, her small studio space is her ‘Stage of Mind’. For each photo she transforms the room into a fantastical dreamscape with absolutely no Photoshop manipulation. The surreal imagery is inspired by her own dreams and memories, as well as traditional Korean folk tales and Western fables.
These staged photographs require skill, patience and an overworking stream of imagination. For that reason, these photos double as unconventional self-portraits as the artist herself is always featured at the center of the elaborate sets. The brilliant ‘Stage of Mind’ series is currently on view at OPIOM Gallery in Opio, France.
