The Brooklyn-based contemporary artist known as KAWS has done it again. His two latest sculptures are currently on view at Mary Boone Gallery in Chelsea, New York. Both sculptures, “At This Time” and “Along The Way,” are a towering 18 feet tall and dominate their spaces.
Fashioned from afrormosia wood, the sculptures are the newest additions to his signature ‘Companion’ characters with cauliflower ears and ‘X’s for eyes. The iconic KAWS sculptures are both sombre and embody a childhood naivety. That awkward juxtaposition of feelings makes these larger-than-life works thought-provoking and increasingly famous with each exhibition.
The show is free and open to the public at Mary Boone Gallery until December 21.
