Marc Thorpe’s illusionary Blur Sofa

Marc Thorpe’s illusionary Blur Sofa

Recently featured in Moroso’s New York showroom exhibition, architect and designer Marc Thorpe highlights his furniture work in a show titled Blurred Limits. His items are currently in production by Moroso, and displayed are the prototypes and limited edition items that will be making a splash on international interior scene.

The exhibition showcases the views of both the manufacturer and the designer in order to push the limits of technology as well as the item’s material, form and space.

Among the highlighted items is the Blur Sofa. The series of couches makes it’s US debut with a fabrication that is meant to look as if it gradually disappears. Using fabric knitting, the materials make use of an integrated gradient pattern appearing as a fading design. The sofa tricks the eye and makes one doubt preconceptions of size and shape.
