Jam to the rhythm of life with these simple beat-box headphones

Swiss artist Zimoun created this rhythm producing device from just cotton balls, two prepared DC-motors and cardboard boxes. The unique beat-box provides a (somewhat) personal sound experience made by repetitive mechanics.

Zimoun’s interactive art piece allows the user to listen to a simple mechanism blasting a bold universally understood language: rhythm. There are no ‘actual’ speakers in this project, just two motors that are spinning cotton balls and striking boxes. The simplicity is intoxicating!

You can’t play Lady Gaga on this sensory sculpture, but you can watch a user jam out to the mechanical beat in this demo video!
