Graphic images use negative space to tell stories

Filling a blank canvas with a meaningful image is a challenge faced by every artist.

Tang Ya Hoong, a graphic designer, has developed a clever way to add meaning to his art, but his technique has more to do with what’s not on the page than what is.

The artist produces bold images that require a closer look to find the simple narratives hidden in plain sight in the negative space of each picture.

Hoong says, “The art of negative space is an attempt to tell a story through illustration.

” The Malaysian graphic designer cleverly uses this methodology to communicate his ideas and concepts.
