Newly designed era-fitting movie posters by La Boca

UK’s La Boca is one of my favorite independent design studios. They’re probably best known for their artwork campaign with the rock band Muse, and the award-winning series of retro teaser posters for Black Swan, but their movie poster portfolio is just as visually arresting.

In their poster designs for ‘King Kong’ (the original ’30s version) and for Orson Welles’ 1950s film ‘The Third Man’, they restrained from their trademark hyper-color approach for something more minimal and subdued. With a nod to the Art Deco aesthetics of the period they have created posters that are albeit with a modern twist. However, they loosened up with their take on Back To The Future with a suitably ’80s-esque colorful design. These retro movie posters are a beautifully studied homage to a bygone era of cinema.
