The Japanese milliner Maiko Takeda creates edgy, surreal headdresses accentuated with opulent colors and pointy shapes.
Her hats exude a chaotic beauty inspired from the forms of caterpillars, porcupines and hedgehogs. She laboriously assembles her hats piece by piece, starting with the small details and assembling it all into place.
The final result is a strange fabrication of colorful needles elegantly protruding from its wearer’s face.
The beautiful hats defy gravity with surreal upward movements.Maiko Takeda studied in London but has now returned to Tokyo to pursue her jewelry making and millinery career.
