Ornate skulls and anatomical forms carved into pearls and tiny things

Skulls seem to be finding their way out of the halloween ornament aisle and into jewelry thanks to Shinji Nakaba.

The designer has honed the art of masterfully carving anatomical shapes like skulls into pearls and other tiny things. To Nakaba, these are “wearable sculptures” as each piece takes the form of either a ring, necklace, or pin. The craftsman also uses precious metals and stones for high-end works while finding ways to make them more sustainable by incorporating aluminum from beer cans.

Check out some of his wearable sculptures below, and head on over to his online shop if you’re interested in picking one up for yourself or as a gift!
