I think it was the movie Snow White that forever changed the forest for me. What was once a place of serenity and growth was transformed into a dark hollow with evil eyes, and lashing claws. It’s funny what we can see in those trees, but photographer Elido Turco saw something truly special.
Taking still frames of different trees and barks, he mirrors the image to create different faces, running the range of somber to silly. The Italian born photographer has a small collection by now, and was probably one of the sampling inspirations for “Groot” of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ True, or not, he’s changed the way I see the forest, and I’m better for it.
