Portuguese street artist, Artur Bordalo works under the alias Bordalo II. The name is a nod to his grandfather, a classical painter. Bordalo’s created-enviroments are exhibited in the gallery, as well as on the street. His works are vivid and potent collage scenes, with specific elements sculpturally exploding away from the wall.
Trash is an integral part of Bordalo’s work: ‘Our Gift To Mother Nature’ features a white box tied with red ribbon spray-painted across a dumpster overflowing with trash; and ‘Vase’ exhibits recycled-trash-flowers springing out of another full dumpster. Bordalo’s work prompts the viewer to reconsider what is important, and what is being lost in a life-style of overconsumption.
