I’m sure that we’re all aware of the subtle nuances of thunder. The immense electrostatic discharge that we know as lightning can produce both an explosive heartrending crack, as well a low rumble. Now, imagine if one were able to harness thunder into music—that would be pretty cool, right?
Well, on a minute scale, this has been done with the ARC Plasma speaker. Diverging from the electromagnetic speaker, the ARC Plasma speaker “uses an electrical arc to ionize and compress the air around it to play music.” With the help of Kickstarter, ExcelPhysics was able to create a longer lasting prototype of the ARC Plasma speaker, and are now selling easy-to-assemble ARC Plasma speaker kits online.
