Nude figure sculptures that you’ll want to lick. Seriously…they’re made of sugar.

Sometimes the most striking conceptual aspect of a piece of art is contained within the construction material itself. Australian artist Joseph Marr makes his sculptures out of juicy, drippy, sensual, sweet – sugar.

Using this unique art medium Marr creates life-sized figures of men and women, sometimes stripped down to nothing. Drawing on the existing pop reference to sexuality that is embodied in some foods, like cake or cherries, his work confronts the viewer with a feeling of awkwardness when they realize how the work makes them feel…

He colors the sculptures using food ingredients like cola and raspberry fruit and then coats the entire sculpture in polyurethane for a long-lasting (and non-edible) surface.
