Amazingly detailed works of art created with an everyday tool

Paris-born illustrator Helena Hauss creates incredibly vibrant and arresting illustrations with a mainstay writing utensil of high school students – the Bic pen. Hauss’ brightly colored, large drawings bring to life common scenes of people drinking and having fun. Hauss uses Bic pens of varying colors so the drawings aren’t just blue, but the blue drawings in particular demonstrate her mastery of shading and coloring.

Hauss says she grew up drawing in her school books and her professional drawings are rooted in those childhood sketches, but her advanced art embodies detail and emotion that few juveniles have ever achieved.
