Digital-looking animal sculptures make real life look fake

Some of Ben Foster’s sculptures look as if they were placed into beautiful landscape scenes using Photoshop. In this way, his work investigates the relationship of the virtual and physical realms. Foster creates stark white geometric animals fabricated from metal.

You would never know that these objects are metal just by looking at them. A combination of the refined craft, white color, and outdoor context creates a digital-looking illusion of a mysterious origin and material. It is this mystery that makes his life-sized works of art so mesmerizing.

“My works are a culmination of the natural and the manmade – a careful balance of form and motion,” explains Foster.
