This niche product targets print designers who live by the rules of color separation. The CMYK playing cards swap suits with ink colors and numbers with saturation gradients.
As the project’s Kickstarter explains, “The only decoration would be made from the kinds of crop marks and registration bleeds usually never seen in the post-production world, and the various shapes, patterns and rules that never make it into a finished piece of printed media were given centre stage.”
The cards are being produced by UK company, Hundred Million. The fundraising campaign for the product has sparked valuable dialog with a community of creative supporters that have suggested product changes. Included in these suggestions was the idea for the tilted joker, which shows how the smartest designs can be very simple.
