‘Taste shapes according to nature’ is the latest project from Brazilian photographer Felipe Barbosa and art director Rafael Medeiros. In this series the artists mix the shapes and colors of fruit with surrealism and pop art. The project was all done in collaboration with French epicurean magazine Fricote.
There’s definitely an element of synesthesia in the shoot, underscored with a cheeky sense of humor. Common fruits like apples, bananas, raspberries and the ever-exotic dragon fruit become various daily-life objects in comical settings. It’s a fun concept boldly executed with popping colors.
Interestingly, prior to this, Barbosa had mostly shot models in fashion, and this was his first time working on something involving food.
