Each year we hear about more bridges collapsing in China. This is largely the result of the weight abuse that the country’s truckers have inflicted onto the roadways. This series of photos published by China Foto Press show overloaded vehicles in a humorous light to draw attention to serious safety issues.
In 2011 a bridge collapsed over the Qiantang River, in Hangzhou, after a truck carrying 129 tons crossed the bridge built to withstand just 55 tons. The bridge was only 10 years old when it fell! While these hilarious photos feature mostly harmless images of wide-loads of materials like styrofoam, they are intended to bring attention to the very real safety issues surrounding overloaded trucks in China.
