Geometric sandcastles for the modern beach bum

Artist Calvin Seibert believes that just as our culture’s architectural style has evolved from castles, so should our sand architecture. The sandcastle artist recently returned from a trip to Hawaii where he produced a bunch of his modern sand architecture sculptures.

His creations look like abstracted sprawling cityscapes on the beach. His precision transforms the sand material into something with entirely different properties appearing rigid and angular. Seibert has been working as a sculptor’s assistant for the past 30 years and his acquired skills are exemplified in this new work!

You can see more modern sandcastle architecture on his Flickr.
