What does it look like when you Photoshop the dead band members out of classic rock album covers? That’s what Jean-Marie Delbes & Hatim El set out to do with their project entitled ‘Live! (I See Dead People)’, which gives a realistic update on the downsides of music industry mortality.
Among the artists featured are The Beatles, The Ramones, The Clash, The Who, The Beach Boys, Serge Gainsbourg, Nirvana, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, AC/DC, Elvis Presley, The Doors and more. The negative space caused by the absence of the departed figures on these 18 iconic covers creates a strangely sad and existential effect. They may be gone, but the songs and the artwork forever remain.
