“Just lean forward to speed up, lean back to slow down,” says California company, Future Motion about their product Onewheel. Designed to mimic the feel of surfing or snowboarding, the product goes well beyond a skateboard, and some say even approaches a hover-board. Many people are excited about the Onewheel, and the product’s Kickstarter has already gone well beyond their funding goal.
The design uses a hub motor, which powers the Onewheel without using a transmission, gears, or belts. It has an 11-inch air-filled go-kart tire, and a Lithium iron phosphate battery that recharges in under 30 minutes. The product even captures potentially lost energy with a regenerative braking system that recharges the battery during deceleration.
