If I had a bucket list of places I must see in my lifetime, Las Pozas would make top priority. Somewhere in a subtropical rainforest of Mexico lies this hidden architecture gem – 2,000 feet above sea level. Located seven hours away from Mexico City, Las Pozas’ surreal garden is the masterpiece of Edward James, an eccentric bohemian Englishman who spent millions to make his dream enclave come to life over 80 acres of natural waterfalls and mountain springs.
A patron of surrealist art, James has spent over 40 years of his life constructing the garden with massive surrealist sculptures up to four stories tall. Las Pozas is a magical marriage of man-made structures and nature, as well as a testament to the limitless power of imagination and creativity.
