It’s not often that something new happens in outdoor advertising but IBM has done it with their “smarter” multi-functional billboards. Designed by Ogilvy & Mather, these signs serve their primary function as a billboard, but can also function as street furniture like benches and shelters. They even have a ramp billboard that lets wheelchairs, luggage and bikes to be rolled up stairs.
The smarter billboards come in retro colors and typeface and create a minimalist but striking appearance. So far these billboards are in Paris, but it’s just a matter of time before they migrate to places like New York City.
