Globalization visualized in immersive Hong Kong art installation

The Tokyo-based art group known as teamLab is made up of individuals with diverse skills such as programmers, designers, mathematicians, animators, and architects. This group works together to create culturally relevent art about contemporary ideas. Their latest installation called ‘Homogenizing and Transforming World‘ is about human’s role in Internet and globalization phenomenon.

This wildly colorful interactive installation features giant inflated spheres lit from the inside. The balls appear as individual units but are, in fact, connected by an unseen technology. When a viewer touches or bumps one ball the rest of the balls respond sending a dramatic wave of color through each object in the room.

If you can’t make it out to the Hong Kong Arts Centre for the exhibition be sure and check out the beautiful video below to see the art in action!
