Collaborative design modernizes hospital furniture

Design studio Tilt has revealed an unlikely shaped piece of furniture for hospitals. Interestingly, the ‘Quiet‘ chair was inspired by a co-designing workshop with the staff and patients in the Whittington Hospital in London.

The idea for the furniture was conceived with the patient’s safety in mind, yet still provides personal space and privacy for the user. The Quiet chair forms an enclosed area around the patient that can be used as a booth or a chair depending on their desire. The pentagonal cocoon shape allows the user to feel both cozy and protected at the same time.

I would be ecstatic to see this modern beauty instead of the sterile aesthetics of a typical hospital!
