The ‘calorie’ can be an incredibly abstract idea that many of us fear, but what does one actually look like? Although we can not see the elusive buggers Wisegeek has put together the next best thing – a photography study consistently depicting 200 calories represented in 72 different foods.
I enjoy the striking simplicity of this project. Wisegeek treats the food like a science experiment by cutting out calculated slices and amounts in order to depict 200 calories. The white display plate does a great job of looking like it could either be on your kitchen table or in a science lab.
This comparative food study effectively puts ‘calories’ into visual perspective. Are you surprised by any of them?
