Flooding the Internet art world this week is Brian Lai, a young artist who draws in negative! This means that his drawings inverse the shading making the shadows bright and the highlights dark. The everyday art you’re likely to see at a gallery wasn’t enough of a challenge for the Malaysian ‘invert artist.’
Lai raised the bar by creating a series of vague drawings that look unimpressive in normal lighting conditions. When the shading of Brian’s drawn images is inverted though photography they take on an extraordinarily detailed realistic appearance. Contrary to popular belief, Lai does not use photographs, and he’s got a YouTube video to prove it. Check it out below and be blown away!
