These amazing images are created as a result of a painstakingly tedious process. The artist, Fabian Oefner, produces a scale model of an iconic car (inside and out) while photographing the mold-making process. He then deconstructs the model while photographing each tiny part suspended in the air from a string. Finally, the hundreds of photos of car parts are organized and assembled digitally as “exploded” compositions.
These works are all apart of Oefner’s new series’ titled ‘disintegrating’ and ‘hatch.’ The series features iconic cars such as the Mercedes-benz 300 slr, a Jaguar e-type, and Ferrari 330 p4.
Fabian Oefner’s work is on view at MB&F M.A.D. gallery in Geneva through May 2014.
